Spring cleaning has been finished at the library! Our resident librarians -- Peggy Snow, Carolyn Murphree and Nylic Copelan -- invite residents to see what has been accomplished to help you in finding books of interest more quickly. First, categories have been created; for example fiction is shelved alphabetically by author, and popular authors who have written multiple volumes, eg., John Grisham and Danielle Steel, have a designated place in the fiction section. The edges of shelves have labels to help you in finding type of book, or letters of the alphabet to help you in selecting a particular author. Other categories include: Mysteries, Presidents and first lady biographies and autobiographies, plus a shelf of biographies of other famous people. There is a section for books in large print, a section of Readers Digest condensed books, and a section that includes: American history, politics, civil rights and military, English royalty, plus books of special interest to women. In addition, there are three shelves for paperback books available. The library furniture has been rearranged to offer a more pleasing look, and to accommodate large group meetings, for example, the creative writing class. New chairs have been ordered for the large library table. Magazines are now placed on a table under the windows. We appreciate receiving donated books, and especially weekly and monthly magazines of general interest. Peggy, Carolyn and Nylic have been working hard to make our Pines Library a pleasant, functional and learning environment. (Article written by: Carolyn Murphree)
