Springfield Township is a buzz with an array of back-to-back community events for the summer. Mark your calendars. For additional information call 522-1410 or visit springfieldtwp.org/events • Outdoor Kids Summer Concert June 12, 6:15 PM-8:45 PM at The Grove Park (Back deck of the Senior and Community Arts Center) The Springfield Township Arts and Enrichment Council will present a FREE family concert on Thursday, June 12th. Bring your lawn chairs and picnic blankets and enjoy the night with music by Chip Richter. Kid-friendly booths featuring games, face painting, a bubble zone, and a free craft will open at 6:15 p.m. Popcorn and pop will be available for purchase. Sign up the kids for the Hula Hoop contest before the concert begins and they could win VIP seating at the concert. The concert begins at 7p.m. • Puppets For Lunch, Sponsored by ArtsWave June 19, 12:00 PM-2:00 PM @ Grove Park What?! Puppets for lunch! We cant eat the puppets!!! No, of course not - but plan to pack your picnic lunch and favorite blanket for an entertaining lunchtime performance on the lawn at The Grove, located behind the Springfield Township Fire Station at 9150 Winton Road. Your entertainment will begin with an opening performance by kids in the community who have signed up to be a part of Play For A Day. After the opening act, Madcap Puppets will hit the stage for their hilarious slapstick adventure Twains Twisted Tales. About Twains Twisted Tales: Clara’s ordinary day takes an unexpected twist when Mark Twain’s most beloved characters escape from her book!! Putting them back where they belong is going to take help from Mark Twain himself. Madcap is proud to introduce the life and stories of one of America’s greatest literary figures and humorists with giant puppets and audience participation. The stories included are: The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, Legend of Sagenfeld, and selections from The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. After the shows, stay to make bubble wands and enjoy the afternoon in the park! 12:00 noon- Opening Act (From Play in a Day Workshop - see below) 12:10 p.m. - Madcap Puppets - Twains Twisted Tales 1:00 p.m. - Outdoor Craft (Making Bubble Wands!) *Admission is free. Donations will be accepted to support the Springfield Township Arts & Enrichment Council. In the event of rain, the event will take place indoors at The Grove Banquet Hall. • Touch A Truck July 11, 11:00 AM-1:00 PM @ Springfield Township Civic Center Parking Lot Big trucks have always amazed kids! The Touch A Truck event will introduce over 50 vehicles to kids of all ages. They will have a chance to climb aboard a backhoe, be the driver of a fire truck, and see the street sweeper in action! Pets will be open for adoption in the mobile adoption unit and a helicopter fly-in will happen around noon. Concessions from Skyline Chili will be available with partial proceeds benefiting the Springfield Township Arts and Enrichment Council. Admission is FREE!
