The song was originally written for a gentleman coming home late one evening in New York City and was approached by 4 intoxicated off duty New York City Policeman who asked him for his wallet for ID. As he went for his wallet, someone said gun, and the 4 policemen pumped him with 41 bullets. The policeman were removed from the Force and lost their pensions.
