Sprint car driver Duane Mausteller, 41, of Bloomsburg, Pa., is listed in critical condition this evening (Sunday) at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville from injuries he sustained in a racing accident at the Selinsgrove Speedway during the running of the 25-lap Empire Super Sprint-sanctioned feature Saturday night (May 17). According to his family, Mausteller is undergoing medical procedures this evening to treat head injuries. The Mausteller family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers, and to please respect their privacy during this difficult time. The accident occurred on the third lap of the 360 sprint car feature at the end of the half-mile speedway’s backstretch at approximately 10:35 p.m. and also involved Jamie Collard of Burford, Ont., and Shawn Donath of South Onondaga, N.Y. Mausteller was air-lifted to the Geisinger Medical Center for treatment while Collard was transported by ambulance for back-related injuries. Collard also remains hospitalized this evening. Donath was not injured in the accident.
