Squids not Spawn On a recent Nite Dive at Landoro I was amazed - TopicsExpress

Squids not Spawn On a recent Nite Dive at Landoro I was amazed by the amount of small pink squid actively feeding in the water column. They were only about 60 mm long and were attracted by my dive torch. Often they attacked me hitting my body then releasing a mass of brown fibrous looking gunk. It was hard to get them in the viewfinder as they liked to hang inches away from the brightness of my torch lens hanging from my wrist, which instigated a fair amount of lithe and graceful jostling for position on my part. There were masses of other small fish similarly exposed and the typical bright night-time coral polyps. The main purpose was to see any coral spawning which was predicted for that night, but only one coral showed any emissions of any sort.
