Srila Prabhupada was sent from the Spiritual World to sow the seeds of the Yuga Dharma of the Age of Kali Yuga - the chanting of the holy names of the Lord, which was predicted and prescribed in our scriptures. In the ancient Satyuga during the times of Lord Shiva man lived for 100 000 years and performed great austerities and medication to reach the Lord. In the Tretayuga when Lord Rama ruled the planet man lived for 10 000 years and maha yajna or great fire sacrifices were performed to acquire Godhead. Then came the Dwaparyuga when Bhagavan Sri Krsna was on the planet and man lived for 1 000 years we saw the building of great temples and heard the chanting of complicated Veda mantras in order to reach God. But, in the age of Kali yuga which lasts for a period of 432 000 years man lives for a maximum of 100 years and the mode of worship is through the chanting of the holy names of the Lord. Times will be degraded and become worse as the clock ticks. The Lord appeared as Radha and Krsna in one body as Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu 500 years ago to bring the Yuga Dharma or the chanting of the holy names. He declared that he will send down a great personality who will spread it in every town and village throughout the world. This great personality was His Divine Grace A C Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada who at the ripe old age of 75 was able to travel the world 14 times over, build 108 of the worlds best temples, translate the 18 000 verses of the Srimad Bhagvatam for the first time into English, wrote volumes of other sacred books, initiate thousands of disciples and place well trained sanyasis to lead the future generations into the chanting of the Hare Krsna Maha Mantra which is the only way in which man can be delivered Back Home Back to Godhead.
