Srinagar, Sep 28: The Services Selection Board (SSB) is again in news for wrong reasons. The Board has conceded that irregularities were committed in recently held written test for various jobs, in which over two lakh aspirants appeared. SSB has now issued notices in newspapers admitting that errors were committed in entry of inclusion of names and barcode numbers even as it asked the aspirants to contact the Board for future course of action. “It has come to the notice of the authorities that there have been some discrepancies like wrong mention of name etc, non-inclusion of application Bar Code N (s) in the admit cards issued in favour of the candidates, who recently appeared in the objective type written tests for 10+2 level posts, graduation level posts and Matric level posts (Forest Guard) conducted on 17 and 21 September 2013,” reads the notice issued by Secretary SSB vide DIPK number 7987 published in Greater Kashmir, earlier this week. “Therefore, through the medium of present notice all such candidates are informed to submit their representation alongwith documentary proof in the respective divisional offices of the Services Selection Board at Parraypora Baghat, Srinagar and Paloura Opposite BSF School Jammu upto 30.09.2013, failing which no claim shall be entertained whatsoever,” the notification adds. The candidates had, earlier, complained of large-scale irregularities in the issuance of admit cards and alleged faults in the SSB website asking the board to postpone the exams, till the mess is resolved. But the SSB went ahead with the conduct of exams while the board chairperson Shagufta Parveen said the complaints were not that big an issue. “There were some minor issues like discrepancy in parentage and address which were brought to our notice,” she said. There have also been complaints that the SSB website is faulty with experts terming it a “haphazard godown of online documents than a professional website for a recruitment board” and that uploads are often outdated. The board refutes the charges. Another complaint pertains to messing up of the eligibility criteria for teacher posts for which 10+2 has been fixed as the basic qualification. In the past, aspirants said BEd was a prerequisite. Failing to get respite from SSB, aspirants have appealed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to look into the matter complaining that their career was at stake. The aspirants plead that even for the post of Rehbar-e-TaleemBEd qualification is mandatory. “What is the fun of having BEd and MEd courses if candidates having 10+2 qualification are held eligible by SSB. We worked hard to qualify these PG courses and are at the verge of crossing the age bar but the board people are reluctant,” the aspirants said. SSB wasn’t even allegedly confident about question paper standard and so disallowed the candidates from taking their papers home as happens with all other such exams
