St. Elizabeth Academy Alumnae Association July 25, 2013 Minutes Meeting called to order at 7:06pm by Joann Augsburger Jana and Susan Augburger with a prayer – Hymn to St. Elizabeth. Old Business discussed starting at 7:10pm: Minutes from June 13, 2013 Alumnae Meeting. • Maria Venagoni Unger spoke about the necessary dissolving of the SEA Alumnae Association • Volunteers were requested to head the new SEA Alumnae Association – Joann Augsburger Jana and Susan Augsburger volunteered. • Meeting was adjourned New Business • Leah Wand was introduced. She is in her 11th year of working for the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood. Present title: Mission Advancement Director in charge of fundraising and development. • The SEA Website will be functioning for next 6 months. All information on the website refers to CPPS-O’Fallon website. • SEA Facebook page – Holly volunteered to keep the Facebook page functioning. SEA Facebook group page taken down. • Lizzie paraphernalia for sale o 5x7 photos of school 1957 entrance ($5) o clothing items – various prices o yearbooks – ($2) o class composites – limited years o contact Joann at joannaugie@aol • Class reps – please volunteer if interested. Some alums signed up after final Mass Sunday, July 21, 2013. • Alternate meeting sites – Barb Beckerle Eichner said Ursuline has offered to help. St. Mark’s parish was suggested due to flat parking lot, well lit. Need to investigate other sites, depending on cost. Getting to Know You – please introduce yourself to people sitting near you, especially to people you don’t know. Attendees were divided into groups based on graduation year to discuss: • What’s Our Line? – purpose of SEA Alumnae Association – what is our mission, how do we move forward? • What’s Our Name? • How Often Do We Want to Meet? • Do We Want to Continue the Tradition of Homecoming and Distinguished Alumna? After discussions were completed, 1 representative from each group summarized their ideas: 1. What’s Our Line – social group, non-profit concentrating on service, social with fundraising to help charities and the sisters, social with fundraising for alumnae scholarships 2. What’s Our Name? – SEA Alumnae Association, Too; SEA Second Edition; Lizzie Ladies, Lizzie Girls, Spirit of SEA, St. Elizabeth Academy Alumnae Association 3. How Often Do We Want to Meet? – every 2 months, including special events; 6 times per year; monthly; every other month; quarterly; monthly initially and then every other month after that. 4. Do We Want to Continue the Tradition of Homecoming and Distinguished Alumnae? there should be 1 social event per year to gather together and possibly honor a class from each decade; the spotlight should be on more than 1 alum per social event; Mass and luncheon or brunch, honor person/people based on their commitment to the values of the CPPS community: Hospitality, Presence, Reconciliation and Response to Human Needs. Do not hold Homecoming around Thanksgiving – difficult time of the year for many people. Need to change name of Homecoming because there is no school to come home to. Voting on above will take place at the next meeting. Please plan to attend. Next St. Elizabeth Academy Alumnae Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 7PM in SEA cafeteria, if still able to meet there. Meeting will be on third Wednesday of the month. Approximate attendance: 45 – 50 women Meeting adjourned with SEA School song at 8:25PM.
