St Louis Actors’ Studio is proud to announce the return of Austin Pendleton to teach a one day workshop, Friday, February 13, 2015: Noël Coward Scene Study FROM THE VORTEX TO SUITE IN THREE KEYS Rehearsed scenes from the works of Noël Coward are critiqued and worked on in class. With a focus on a span of Coward works, ranging from THE VORTEX, one of the early comedies, through QUADRILLE, WAITING IN THE WINGS, and SUITE IN THREE KEYS. CLASS SIZE WILL BE VERY LIMITED AND AUDITION IS REQUIRED Austin Pendleton is an actor, director, playwright, and teacher of acting. As an actor he recently appeared in New York at the Manhattan Theatre Club in Choir Boy, by Tarell McCraney, and in the new Peter Bogdonavich movie (which has two or more titles), with Owen Wilson, Jennifer Anniston, and Cybil Shepherd, which will be released next year. As a director he won an Obie in 2011 for this direction of Three Sisters at Classic Stage Company, in New York: at CSC he has also recently directed Uncle Vanya, Ivanov, starring Ethan Hawke and this March will direct Hamlet starring Peter Sarasgaard. He is currently starring in Straight White Men by Young Jean Lee at the Public. He has written three plays, all published and all produced in New York and around the country: Orsons Shadow, Uncle Bob, and Booth, as well as the libretto for the musical A Minsters Wife (adapted from Candida, by Shaw), which was produced in 2011 at Lincoln Center in New York, as well as at its commissioning theatre, Writers Theatre, in the Chicago area. (Its music is by Josh Schmidt and its lyrics by Jan Tranen.) In Chicago he is also a member of the Ensemble at the Steppenwolf Theatre, where he acts and directs frequently, most recently Tribes, by Nina Raine. He teaches acting in New York, at HB Studio, where he also studied with its founders, Herbert Berghof and Uta Hagen.
