St Mark’s Lesly Modeste. Grenadian Soca artiste Brother B has returned from Hollywood after making a major impact in Hollywood. Being the first Soca artiste in history to be nominated for the NAACP image awards, fellow nominees were keen to meet the Soca artiste from Grenada. St Mark’s Lesly Modeste was nominated in 2012 in the same category making history as the first Soca artiste to be ever nominated at the prestigious awards in Hollywood. Being nominated in 2013 a second time, Brother B created history again by being nominated twice. Brother B made the trip to Los Angeles with his manager Cherokee in a trip that was self funded with a contribution by Shy’s bar in Victoria, St Mark’s, Brother B and his manager. Brother B’s album Diversionary was nominated under ‘Outstanding world music’ category alongside international artist Estelle, Ka’nn and others. Brother B left Grenada on Thursday 24th January to attend six major red carpet events held by the prestigious NAACP image awards. The events took place in Beverly Hills and downtown Los Angeles. Brother B met top celebrities such as Ziggy Marley, Regina King, Tatyana Ali, Mario Van Peebles and Shernell Edmunds. At the first Red Carpet event at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills, Brother B wore a Grenadian tie made by designer Queenie who is based in St George’s Market in Grenada.
