St Patrick’s Day Parade The day is nearly upon us so a couple of gentle reminders….. The Parade will start at 1pm at the Church on Monday so if you are participating please start to assemble there from 12.45pm onwards. Please cooperate with the stewards regarding the order of marching after the Anglesboro Pipe Band and the Grand Marshall. All local groups and organisations are welcome to march as are any individuals or groups who wish to march in fancy dress – just turn up on time to be included. This year’s Grand Marshall is Ned Murphy in recognition of his many years of selfless, mostly behind the scenes, involvement in several local clubs and organisations. Last year’s Junk Kouture winners Shannon, Ceile and Annie (and their winning dress) will also be guests of honour on the reviewing stand. There will be traffic diversions in place re-routing traffic around Kilmallock rather than up the main street from approx 12.45pm – for the safety of those marching. Your cooperation with this and also with not parking in front of Supervalu overnight the night before is appreciated. Alternative parking will be signed and all the diversions and parking “restrictions” should be lifted by 2pm. It is heartening to see some of the windows along the parade route decorated already, it gives the town a lift, but it’s not too late to enter this or the “best dressed residential window” or the “best dressed street/estate” competitions. The “best dressed window along the route” competition will be judged on Saturday, 15th, and the other two over Sunday/Monday 16th/17th. If you are entering either of the latter two, please let us know so that the judges know where to look. For kids there is a colouring competition in Supervalu and we also welcome back, after an absence of a couple of years, a Mystery St Patrick competition in aid of Cancer Research and upkeep of The Peoples Hall. Look out for the details around town. Finally, calling all our volunteer stewards! Please come to the Peoples Hall tonight (Thurs 13th) at 8pm so that we can allocate you to your places for the parade. Anyone who may not yet have volunteered but who feels they can help is also welcome to come along tonight – the more the merrier! If you have any questions, can help with stewarding or wish to enter any of the competitions please contact either Ann Z on 087 9980734 or Mike Donegan on 086 8735625, thank you. Please also keep your fingers crossed and your Child of Prague statues under your hedge so that the weather might be good to us. Oh, nearly forgot - Colin, Val/Steven C, Patrick D, Teresa and Tina, you know what we want!
