Stampede & its implications. . .Obviously, the tragic Gandhi Maidan incident, the ugly game of political accusations & counter-accusations and surfacing of numerous comments & perceptions on this score from various quarters have compelled me to write some lines on this issue. . .First of all, 3 prominent causes may be attributed for the incidents of stampede - 1. .Rumour. .2. .Use of unnecessary lathicharge & reckless force by the police personnels. .and, 3. . Mismanagement & lack of efficiency on the part of the govt. , govt. functionaries & organising committees. . .Every incident of such type is followed by the institution of probe committee only to hush up & cover up the matter in the usual sense and the subsequent game of passing the buck on various levels. . .But why does it so happen that this sinister game of politics keeps on raging even on the dead bodies ?. .Why do most of the probe committees fail to reach their logical ends on the satisfactory note ? . .Why do only lower-rung officers are subjected to suitable punishment & the higher-ups bear the brunt of only symbolic ones ?. .Why does the segment of the political class who happens to be at the helm of affairs are usually perceived to be above the law & immune to any sort of punishment in the smallest of terms ?. . .Does the certificate of being peoples representative empower them to take recourse to the game of dirty politics even on the dead bodies of the people ? ? ?. . .The points & counter-points are comprehensive and, in fact, unending ones. . . . .
