Stan and Nick into US Open’s Third Round Round two in men’s singles saw triumphant wins for YONEX players at the US Open on days three and four. Day four also saw the start to the women’s doubles tournament. Flashing back to day three, Stan Wawrinka (VCORE Tour G, SHT-PRO) had a heated second-round match that ran late into the night against Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci. Stan opened the match confidently with his signature backhands and strong forehands, while also demonstrating good plays closer to the net, gaining a two-set lead. While the pressure started coming down hard in the match’s second half, Stan came back strong in the fourth set’s tiebreaker. The Swiss opened the tiebreaker extremely well, and closed it superbly with a service ace. Stan the Man came out of the match with great numbers, grabbing 51 winners—20 more than his opponent, and landed 16 aces against his opponent’s seven. The match came to 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(1). Stan has been constantly boasting excellent performance with his VCORE Tour G—the perfect racquet for his powerful and offense-heavy game. He had this to say about his racquet, “I can never lose power. It gives me a lot of spin, and that is really important for my game.” Day four saw another top-class match from young Australian tennis powerhouse Nick Kyrgios (EZONE Ai 98), as he beat Italian Andreas Seppi with cool confidence in straight sets. Nick boasted amazing service games throughout the match, with especially polished serves in the first set. Assaulting the Italian from the baseline, Nick was one set up after 30 minutes. While the hour-long second set got a little rough, going into a tiebreaker, Nick came stampeding back triumphantly in the third set. Bringing especially keen insight to his game in the match’s final third, Nick came down strong against his opponent’s service. Nick snagged 22 aces, 41 winners, and held off every single one of his opponent’s chances to break in the nearly two-hour match. The score came to 6-4 7-6 (2), 6-4. Day four saw a good start for YONEX’s players in women’s doubles, with Zheng Jie (EZONE Ai 98, POLYTOUR SPIN)/Andrea Hlavackova confidently overpowering Camila Giorgi/Mandy Minella in a match that closed at 6-0 6-1.
