Stand Aside! I remember one afternoon I was on my way to church. Truth is, I was going to take a bus and save myself the stress of trekking but ermm... Sometimes the stress could save you some extra cash and the glory of the latter(thinking) surely was greater than the former; scripture being fulfilled! Halleluyah! Okay Back to the gist. I was walking to church quite casually when something caught my attention. It was the sight of a man fighting a woman, rather beating up a woman! Kai! See me see anger! Naturally, I am not one to coman coman do everybody luku luku see what the Lord has done on the road but the sight of such a bully flexing his muscles on a woman made me boil up in nasty anger. I crossed over. Another thing that hit me was the fact that a lot of onlookers were gathered and no one deemed it fit to hold the man down. The lady was sweating, struggling to release what was left of her cloth from the hand of the man. She would stop at a point, beat at the air, cry, curse and struggle again. I couldnt watch. I cried at the injustice. I turned to go. Then I saw a man walk up to the scene. Whispers of ehen! Oko won ti de(her husband has arrived) went from the mouths of the ara adugbo(people living in the area) to the ears of the passers-by who stood to watch. See road clearing for the man! Oga, you needed to see him fa! He was like a rock! Big, tall and facially wicked! The man harrassing his wife didnt see the slap coming. It rang out like a blow... My ear felt it! Kai! The man staggered, fell and I am so sure he was temporarily blind! The woman, wanting to show power in her husband started screaming and shouting, hitting the fallen man. Her husband took one look at her and lovingly said no worry! I don come! You shift make me deal wit am(Dont worry. Im here now! Stand Aside and let me handle it) and handle it he did! He made the guy crawl and beg the woman till she forgave him! Trust woman and shakara nah! She first troway face. It took people to beg her to have mercy and then after a long while, shee did! Film Over! To your house/work everyborry! To your church oh amebo sistah! I cant believe I waited that long for that marra to finish! Now I am glad I did! Many times, we go through a lot of battles and we, like that woman, struggle and fight, cry, sweat and get tired! Even in our tiredness, we are still fighting and yet it seems the more we fight, the weaker we get and we are losing. Sometimes, we lose, not just strength, we lose our sanity. Our minds go in that battle and we tell ourselves its over but Id rather die fighting or we resign to fate and wish we never moved at all! Moses and the Israelites got to that Point. The red sea was in front and the philistine army, Pharaoh-Led was behind. Confusion set in! Moving forward, they were doomed. Going back, they were doomed. Complaint strolled to camp. They attacked Moses and God. What did Moses do? He prayed... He handed the battle over to the one who could fight it! And God said to him Moses STAND ASIDE and watch... And that he did! He obeyed the simple but very funny instruction and the Unusual happened! Dear one, Are you going through battles? does it feel like its the end of the rope for you? The battle is fierce and you are at the mercy of the enemy? Are you confused and dismayed? Maybe the only thing you have strength to do now is Cry. Then this is the best time of your life. Where your strength fails, Grace takes over! Let Go and Let God! Hand the battle over to Him. He has stepped in, let Him fight it and give you the victory! I have learnt that when the battle is fiercest, your Victory is nearest; God is nearest! Let him have the battle. Hand it in! Dont try to help Him after you have handed it over. Let Him take care of it in His own way. I hear him say to you Dont worry. Im here now. STAND ASIDE and let ME(alone) deal with it! All you need to do is Obey every instruction He gives to the letter, no matter how unpleasant, funny, stupid, annoying, people-repelling and unlikely it is... Just Trust and Obey! Then let Him handle the rest! The Battle is not yours! I leave you with this song by a friend.
