Stardate 47635.44, Day 2, IDA - I suffered a harrowing evening and night because of two issues: First, the local fauna (a female cat, genetic origins unknown, moniker Belle) disappeared for nearly 14 (Earth) hours. I was not so worried about the cat, but the consequences of one of the household companion animals disappearing would be devastating to me on return of the First Office and the Child Units. Devastating to me... The cat reappeared this morning when I opened a closet door. I am grateful to the Lord. Next, and most significantly, I am anticipating a conversation with the First Office when she returns to the Ship. It will go along these lines. Captain (I doubt she will use that title), where is all the Crisco? I will reply, I do not know what you mean. I had a three pound can in the cabinet next to the stove; it is all gone! I will then say, Three pounds of Crisco was not enough for a week with you away, First Officer Dee. Anticipated reply: You fried everything you ate, didnt you? I claim the Seventh Guarantee of the Charter of the United Federation of Planets October 9, 2161 (Old Earth Calendar). You cannot compel me to give testimony against myself! First Officer McMillan: Let me see your Fitness application on your communicator. Only under pain of a subpoena, I will protest. Captain McMillan my left hind foot! Pray for me. I am afraid.
