Started back at St. Bons as a volunteer teacher. Teaching the Canadian law course. Five days out of the cycle of seven. Enjoying the students very much. Only 8 students. We started the year with the trial of Jesus. Then we did the Nelson Hart case. Spent a long time on Hart. Attempting to compare the process of hart from investigation through the preliminary all the way through the Supreme Court of Canada decision this past summer. We had all members become Jurors and revisited the trial as if it had proceeded when returned to NL for a new trial. The Jury was given the Jury charge and then deliberated as if they were in the jury room. Result Unanimous Decision Not Guilty....... two student Jurors felt that the sum total of evidence did not reach the Probably Guilty level. We continued with the Mack Decision SCC this week affirming Guilt in another murder case. Hoping the class has an opportunity to sit in a portion of a real Jury trial in Trial Division next week.
