Starting off the morning with a great but not mentioned enough Steely Dan album. Countdown to Ecstasy -This is perhaps one of the great lost steely Dan masterpieces, Its jazz influence never suffers their original intent to make classic Dan music. Razor Boys riding feeling has to be the ultimate highlight of Steely Dan outside of maybe everything off of Aja. If I had to summarize it, Id call this album the nice jazz recording. These guys always made pop-hook music, coming all the way from making jingles for commercials at NBC, and then turning to music. Its hard to describe this music without going interplanetary, though, like Aja. The flowing cloud-like guitar and melody are like a heaven unto itself. The two albums, Aja and Countdown to Ecstasy, represent the peaks of Steely Dan music; milestones within their original genres that are little accepted by the high and mighty soap-box critics.
