Starting the holiday with a half day at the Dublin Holistic centre - TopicsExpress

Starting the holiday with a half day at the Dublin Holistic centre on Saturday being a client ! The day began with a 4 hour restorative yoga session with an wonderful yoga teacher, Catriona McCormac of YogaIreland. I was a bit nervous about whether i could manage 4 hours of yoga but restorative is exactly as the name implies, deeply mind/body nourishing, transformative and very very do-able. All of the asanas were strong but simultaneously restful poses, (Im not sure if Im explaining that very well !). It was a wonderful quietly grounding start to the holiday and Id highly recommend any of Catrionas classes. To finish the afternoon I had the pleasure of an Ayurveda facelift treatment with Maried McHugh (who does massage therapy, facial rejuvenation, shiatsu and Japanese massage). Marieds rejuvenating facelifts are something else. She works on one side so you can compare the lifted side which is really fun, but its not only a super cosmetic treat, Mairead knows her T.C.M stuff. That means theres also facial acupressure that has full body/mind effects. It clears your head and is deeply relaxing too. The things that are offered to women to their skin and body, such as using poisonous Botox, burning lasers or abrasive micro cutting with tiny grains, by comparison, seem quite monstrous and its a shame theyre becoming so unquestionably normalised. I always like to recommend therapies Ive enjoyed because herbs and acupuncture (which I offer and of course use myself) arent for everyone and if I find good therapists in other fields that someone might benefit from or enjoy, I like to spread the word. I hope you too get the opportunity to take some time out for yourselves, in whichever way rejuvenates you on a holistic level over the holidays!
