Starting to get an idea of how heartbreaking farming can be, as I prepare our veggie patch for another onslaught from the sun. Its only 10:30 and its already 31+ degrees out there. Its supposed to get to 39 today! In SPRING! Our rainwater tank is bone dry, our back yard is bone dry, and Im having to try and sprout grain for the chooks so they have some greens. As it is, the chook proof planter I had constructed to grow feed for them has been picked almost dry - one of the cheeky buggers must have climbed up on top of it, and put their head right through the bars to pick out all the little seedlings as they grew :/ Its not even summer yet - I dont even want to think about summer, its too depressing :(
