Starting to get some ground truth information from my former co workers up in Central Oregon. The fire is taking off again being driven by winds. Two main objectives today...protection of the numerous structures at risk. And, protect Bends water supply which is also being hugely threatened. They are going to put a major push on while they safely can to try to make a direct attack on the western side of the fire to try to protect Bends water supply. For those of you new to Rogueweather, I was a firefighter up in Central Oregon from 1991 - 1996 with Redmond Fire Department. On wildland fires, I was in Deschutes County Task Force 2 which had equipment and manpower from the Redmond and Crooked River Ranch fire departments. My duty with them could be anything from IC to engine boss. I am very familiar with the area being affected by this fire right now.
