Starting up a new occasional feature today. Transformation Tuesday will give you a glimpse at some of the new changes happening to the historic properties on Washington Street. Have you noticed the new iron fencing being installed at 208? Owners Karen Sword and Mike Clark saw old photos indicating that at one time, a fence surrounded their 1869 home. Unfortunately, the fencing was long gone, perhaps used in the war effort. They traveled to Manheim, PA and found antique wrought iron fencing at Echoes from the Past. They purchased fencing that had originally surrounded a home in Lancaster, PA in the mid-1800s, and liked it because it mimicked the pattern in their stained glass windows and seemed to fit the style of their house. Aside from the fence, you may have noticed a major porch renovation at 208 earlier in the year, and theres more to come! Mike is a licensed home improvement contractor, and is doing all the work himself. Great job, Mike!
