State Board of Education disappoints today in passing regulations for the Local Control Funding Formula. The State Legislature created LCFF last year to confront social inequities and concentrations of low academic achievement. Our intentions were to direct more education funding to K-12 school districts with a high percentage of low-income students or a large number of English learners. The regulations adopted today dont ensure that the funds generated by underserved students are spent primarily for their benefit. Fortunately, these regulations are temporary. There is more work to do!
