# State Open Water Championship results The weather and conditions were near perfect today at West Lakes as 12 of our bravest swimmers took on the challenge of overcoming the cold open water over 1.5km, 2.5km, 5km and 10km distances. And some truly amazinging and inspirational results were achieved. Results by Age and Distance; * 1.5km Come and Try - Ashley Blades - 5th overall * Boys 11-12yrs 2.5km - Matt Ekins - State Champion & Gold medal * Boys 13-15yrs - Anthony Decorso - Silver medal. * Boys 14-15yrs 5km - Riley Giersch - Silver medal and Nat Age OW QT :)) * Boys 14-15yrs 10 km -Riley Giersch - Bronze Medal and Nat Age QT :)) * Mens Open 2.5km - congrats to our elder statesman of the Team, Darren Giersch, picking up a Bronze medal...mammoth effort!! * Girls 11-12yrs 2.5km - Nedene Paciola - Silver Medal * Girls 12-13yrs 5km - Kate Giersch, Silver medal and her first ever Nat Age OW QT :)) * Girls 12-13yrs 5km - Jamie Blades 5th overall, and her first ever Nat Age OW QT :)) * Girls 14-15yrs 5km - Tilly Leighton, finished 5th overall * Girls 16-18yrs 5km - Chloe Ireland - Silver medal and Nat Age OW QT :)) * Womens Open 5km - Cassie Lindsay - Silver medal * Womens Open 10km Cassie Lindsay - State Champion and Gold medalist Big thank you to Karen Hilton, who spent 3&1/2 hrs on a boat, Katie Blades and Ynez Grimes for officiating. They all did a super job and their efforts were much appreciated by all.
