State Road 18 in Blackford County to be closed starting on Monday Replacement of five drainage structures on State Road 18 in Blackford and Grant counties will close the highway between State Road 3 and State Road 5 starting on Monday, Aug. 4. The closure will continue through late October. Officials from Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announced the project is anticipated to begin as early as August 4. They added the closure will remain in effect until late October. Crews will be replacing a total of five small structures for improved drainage. Locations of the structures are as follows: • 4.1 miles east of I-69 • 4.5 miles east of I-69 • 4.85 Miles east of I-69 • 6.5 miles east of I-69 • 0.35 miles west of SR 3 The official detour is State Road 3 to State Road 26 to State Road 22 to State Road 5 to State Road 18. Local detours also will be in place throughout the project. The project was awarded to Jutte Excavating for $1.3 million. INDOT officials remind drivers to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a construction zone.
