State child welfare officials have stopped sending juvenile wards to a troubled Rockford residential facility following reporting in our Tribune #YouthRTC series that youths inside the center were assaulted and lured into prostitution. Officials also placed the 59-bed, all-girls Rock River Academy under enhanced monitoring, with state inspectors making rounds at least twice a day to ensure the youths who remain there are safe, according to the state Department of Children and Family Services.
