Statement Of Atty. Maria Leonor Gerona-Robredo Representative, Third District of Camarines Sur On the Normalization and Addendum on Bangsamoro Waters by the Government of the Philippines (GPH) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) panels Yesterday was an historic moment in our crusade of achieving lasting peace in Mindanao as the GPH and the MILF jointly signed the Annex on Normalization. The Annex on Normalization is the fourth and final annex to the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro (FAB). These four annexes, along with the FAB, constitute the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), which—after it is signed—will be basis for the crafting of the Bangsamoro Basic Law Bill. The Bill will be later passed to Congress for legislative action. This is a move I am looking forward to as a member of the Philippine Legislature. As a Representative, I will echo my people’s call and desire for peace in the country. The pursuit for peace in Mindanao was not easy at all. We have heard of many diversionary tactics that sought to stall the process. I commend the members of the GPH and MILF Panel for standing ground and persevering amidst all the trials caused by external factions defying the process and challenges brought by the detailed discussions with various entities involved in the crafting of each annex and agreement. There is still much to be done. Let us continue to persevere and weather all challenges that may come in our way of achieving peace in our country.
