Statement by Arakan Social-Welfare Organization (ASWO) on commemoration of 228th Anniversary Day of Downfall of Arakan Sovereignty Date-December 31, 2012 Up to A.D 1784, Arakan, with its establishing independent literature, culture, had been setting up an independent sovereignty state and standing tall with pride-economic, the standard of living in Arakan was higher than any other countries in the history of South East Asia ruled by 252 kings and, total years were about5028, was fallen into the hands of Burmese imperialists on Saturday, the seven days after the full moon day of Pratho, 1146 (Arakan era), December 31, 1784 is due to those_ problems, misapprehension, clashes, conflicts arose in the royal palace had not been patiently systematically solved and ended with genuine sincerity ,in additional, other cases: within the royal palace there were two sides separately, one side with high seniors and their fellows, apart from the king and his groups those supported (king: Thamada), led by opposition (Nga Than Dae) who were impressed by, believed to snatch the power from the king with the help of Burmese King (Bodaw Mg Wine), and another side with the majority in Arakan, at that time, with similar opposition groups’ ideas and viewpoints was the public who didn’t want to intervene in it. After illegitimately being occupied our father land, the people of Arakan had become to realized that loss of sovereignty represent loss of everything and living as a slave on earth is not much different from suffering in the hell. Not content with colonizing Rakhaing Pray (Arakan), the Burmese colonialist had burmarized Arakan Language, literature and culture. On the other hand, raping and forcing Arakanese women and the invaders committed massacres against wise-men, monks, even pregnant women and children including innocent Arakanese in an attempt to annihilate them from this earth. In additional, the Burmese imperialists had burned palm-lear inscription down, Parapai (writing tablet made of paper, cloth or metal in the form of accordion folds), besides shattered 3700 monasteries, uncountable number of pagodas, temples and stupas as well as royal palace. At last, their most scarce Buddha statute of Maha Mrat Munni, which is presently rested at Mandalay, the old capital city of Burma was given by force. The royal families, learned monks, including Parawhai (Court Brahmins who officiates at royal families and advices the king) and hundreds of thousands of skilled Arakanese people, the ears of which had been tied, made a series of hole by string and brutally brought, under inhumane conditions to the Burmese kingdom, Amarapura. In this day and age, from what we Arakanese hear Tun-War-Pan-Khai-Ta Mrai Mrai-Rakhaing-Lu-Ko-Thet is that seven million Arakanese, according to the chronicles, had been beaten to the dust.(captured: a hole punched in their ears and a rope tied through the hole making them into a long line.) The Myanmar history has proved us,but, during the antil-colonialist era the Arakan national leaders led by Saradaw U Sein Dar drove out ffascist Japan from the Rakhaing Pray(Arakan) firstly by standing on our own feet and fight single handedly without aid of any kind from anyone but with whichever arms available. While General Aung San (well known Myanmar’s martyr) declared March 27, 1945 as a “revolution Day” to drive out fascists that there was no japan in the Rakhaing Pray (Arakan). Along during antil-colonialist era, Arakan national leaders including Ven-Ottama (he was considered one of the first Buddhist monks who against British colonial) never put the Rakhaing interest in the front but joined hands with all other oppressed nationalities including Burmese to fight for the liberation off the yoke of slavery at the sacrifice of their lives. However, the Burmese chauvinists are always impressed in their mind that Arakandese are enemies who stand shoulder to shoulder and the chauvinists try to tell lies so far from base on the truth of history. So long as they are not dare to let somebody see the real events of the past that “peaceful Co-Existence: Forwards Federal Union of Burma” is look as if nothing sure. Then, too, taking advantage of the lack of politics field, the logos-bogus federal union given for Rakhaing Pray (Arakan) is a big lesson for Arakan national leaders and then “to throw in our lot with the Burman” again, also to join hands will, perhaps, be extremely difficult for the Arakanese and the Burman, two peoples with diametrically opposite views, attitudes, objectives, goal. What the main reason for us is the Arakanese people lost in the past is not democracy or federal but sovereignty. In the fighting against the ruling Burmese government, however, we are not being the people by narrow nationalism, nor by ill-will towards the Burmese government or the Burman people as some have falsely accused. Due to living in fear of area shaded from direct sunlight and growing up under a series of dictatorial regimes with different names from 1947 up to now that not only new generations of Arakan are lack or modern technology, economic and social from all corners of all but they even also haven’t known their own literature let alone to read or write. The Arakanese shouldn’t forget the saying that “the loss of literature is indicated the loss of nation”. Hence, on the one hand, as the way of Ashin Nagaindar’s historical record that “ Both the two essential qualities of nationality and morality are faithfully safeguarded by who, namely called_ Rakhaing that all inhabitants living in Rakhaing Pray (Arakan), those safeguard nationality and morality as long as they are alive ,adding together, else no one who argue that there was or is no race like a Arakan nation up to present and also on the another hand the Arakanese should try the world may come to know the true situation of Arakan’s literature and culture as much as they can. Thus, Today 31th December,20009 is the most tear-jerking and slaughter of Father Land, 225th anniversary of Arakan Sovereignty Fallen Day, we, Arakan Social-Welfare Organization(ASWO), would like to message to all Arakanese_ “Fighting for retaking sovereignty, we lost in the past, is fully responsible for all Arakanese. Wishing all of Successive Patriotic Arakanese, through the age to regain Arakan sovereignty, have been sacrificing their lives’ be safe from misery.
