Station Church for Saturday after Ash Wednesday: SantAgostino. The Church of St. Augustine This Church is dedicated to the famous St. Augustine of the 4th Century. He is a great saint for today as he struggled with lots of things we can relate to. He was influenced by his negative culture and many of the fad ideas of his day. He was selfish and lived his youth for himself. Upon conversion, he gave his life totally over to Christ. Eventually, they made him Bishop. It was said of him: established anew the ancient Faith. Today we call this the New Evangelization. Not only did his writings change lives, but it even changed his culture. This church was begun in AD 1296. The interior was renovated in the Renaissance, so it has many frescos. The high altar was built by Bernini. there were also renovations in 1750, and 1860. Let us reflect on our conversion: How has our culture effected the way we think and act? How have we conformed our mind to Christ?
