Statists love to whine about voluntaryism being utopian, and - TopicsExpress

Statists love to whine about voluntaryism being utopian, and condescendingly proclaim that, while it may sound nice, it would never work in the real world. With that in mind, setting aside how weird it is to say that opposing violent aggression against innocents would never work, my question is this: What is the BEST case scenario that statists imagine might happen as a result of people participating in the process and working within the system? I mean really, in their most outlandishly optimistic fantasies, what do devout statists think voting and petitioning could possibly accomplish? Do they actually think that things are going to suddenly turn around, and--for the first time ever--peasants politely begging is suddenly going to significant reduce war-mongering, and legalized extortion, and the monitoring and regulation of everyone and everything, and the micromanaging of all of society, and this police state lunacy? In their wildest dreams, what do Democrats or Republicans imagine that voting for their bunch of crooks would actually accomplish? As far as I can tell, mostly their oh-so-principled motivation consists of, Well it wouldnt be as bad as if the OTHER guy won! So thats the beauty of democracy? Thats whats so great about our constitutional republic, and the system of checks and balances: that it might give us a way to slightly SLOW DOWN the inevitable slide into totalitarianism? THAT is why we must vote, must have faith in the system, must believe in government, and must play the game? Please, can some statist describe for me his BEST CASE SCENARIO of what politics could ever possibly accomplish, other than a continuation of the depressing anti-human crap it has given us for the last couple millenia?
