Staying home this morning, feeling sneezy, sniffly, and pretty run down! While drinking some hot brew trying to pull together some energy for this day, I had a sneezing coniption of some kind...no big deal, right? Well, let me tell you, round here they can trigger outbursts of the third kind from another planet from you know who. I was bracing myself for it, but when it came I could hardly believe my ears. Incredulously I asked him, Malachi, did you just say BLESS YOU? In the sweetest voice ever he replied, Yes mommy, bless you! People, this is coming from a kiddo who yells and protests if anyone says that to him! He has never ever said that before. He is actually saying it to me? I totally gushed and said, Malachi THANK YOU! It is such a blessing to hear you tell me that...that was so thoughtful of you to say...it makes me feel so much better - thank you! I was nearly in tears at this point, in awe of this tiny gesture of kindness and compassion coming from a kiddo who could care less about social graces, manners, or peoples feelings. So many mommy feel good feelings were brimming to the top, but I figured the positive reinforcing might be a little more effective if I didnt over do it. Just when I thought it couldnt get any better, his sweet voice calls out to me again and says, Youre welcome mommy. Those three words nearly made me fall out of my chair and spill coffee all over the place! Folks, HE HAS NEVER EVER SAID THAT BEFORE! We have been working on social skills FOREVER it seems...I think part of me had actually given up. Lo and behold...miracles are still happening. Praise be to God! This is huge in my world. HUGE! In case you cant tell, this is one sneezy, sniffly, run down, over joyed, thrilled, excited, ecstatic mama today!!!
