Staying the night down here at the hospital so mom, Mary Anne Daily can take a break...She has been here around the clock since day one and needs rest herself..So, here is the situation with Richard Streander - When he came in before Christmas, it was to go in and fix the cage in his back. He had fallen previously, and all of the screws and bolts as I like to call them were coming loose.. They went in, and couldnt get to exactly where they wanted due to scar tissue, and the risk of paralyzation...So they very next day, they took him back in, and went this time through the front. Luckily they were able to go through the ribs, and didnt have to take one out to get in there. The replaced the cage..new screw and bolts. Then the this morning he had to go back in, so they could adjust a few minor things that were showing on hi MRI..right now he is in ICU, and is stable. They have him pretty sedated, ventilator, feeding tube etc...Following this, we will take the next steps with rehab and then chemo to address the problem that caused all of this in the first place. Hopefully he wont have to endure anymore surgeries and his back stays put...His body is tired and has been put through the ringer.
