Steam leak in Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemicals Limited, 7 injured... TheTimesOfIndia, Aug 23, 2013, 09.20PM IST MANGALORE: In an episode of steam leak, seven contract workers are injured at the power plant being built by the BHEL in project 3 of the Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) here on Friday. The injured are identified as Babulal (31), Alim Anzari (38), Jeethendra (22), Nadir Anzari (35), Shyamlal Singh (40), Surayanarayan (28) and Bithin (19), all belongs to various states of North India. The incident occurred when steam water fell on those workers. While Babulal sustained major injuries, others are being treated for minor bruises and burns, sources in AJ Hospital here told TOI. Lakshmi M Kumaran, deputy general manager (corporate communications), MRPL, said that the injured were taken to hospital for specialised care after providing first aid. "Workers fell down while running in panic from the spot at around 5.30pm. Operations in all running units of MRPL, including phase 3 and its power plant continue normally," she added....
