Steer roper Chance Kelton of Mayer, AZ has had one amazing month. First winning the Guymon, OK Pioneer Days Rodeo five head aggregate by 10.5 seconds. Two weeks later in Torrington, WY he won the seven head aggregate of the National Circuit Finals by 30.8 seconds. This past Memorial Day week-end he pulled off the trifecta. Sunday at the 41st annual Windy Ryon Memorial Roping he shared the fastest steer of the roping, 10.6 seconds, to win the finals and when aggregate leader Jess Tierneys steer wouldnt cooperate during the tie, moved past the three head aggregate leader to win with a four head time of 50.6 seconds. That was 4.6 seconds faster than runner-up Marty Jones to earn him $7,650. He traveled to Groesback, TX for the Monday event and won that by 6.8 seconds over reserve champ Cody Lee to earn $6,500 and a CM three horse trailer provided by host Bobby Joe Hill and numerous sponsors of the second annual event. The trifecta is that one Sunday night, they held a ranch rodeo at Groesbeck and Chance was on the winning ranch rodeo team, along with Cody Lee and Marty Jones. Not a bad weekend.
