Steinbrenner High School Annual PTSA Scholarship Application 2014-2015 School Year The Steinbrenner High School PTSA works diligently to serve the entire school population, from faculty, to custodial staff, to students. As a student advocacy organization, PTSA works with the school administration to create a learning environment that fosters academic success. For the 2014-2015 school year, the SHS PTSA will be awarding 5 non-renewable $500 scholarships to assist graduating seniors with meeting their educational goals. Scholarship Requirements: • Student must be a member of the Steinbrenner High School PTSA (applications are still available in the Success Center and in the main office and cost $10) • Student must have a weighted 3.0 GPA • Essays must be typed and have the student’s school ID number typed in the upper right corner. Please staple the application page to the essay page(s). This will allow for anonymity when applications are being read and reviewed. • Application must be submitted to Mrs. Pressley in guidance by 3:00PM on Friday, February 20th. • The scholarship selection committee will be reviewing scholarships based on both content, correct grammar and spelling. Scholarships will be awarded at the Senior Awards Night Ceremony TBA. A check for $500 will be given to each award winner and can be used for any post-secondary educational expense. Essay 1 (This essay must be completed by all applicants and should be no longer than 250 words.) Please give a brief explanation regarding how this scholarship money will help you reach your goals for the future. Essay 2 (Choose one of the 2 topics below. This essay should be no longer than 500 words.) Option A What accomplishment, event or achievement that took place during your high school years are you most proud of? Option B What difficulty or adversity have you overcome during your high school years and what have you learned from the experience? Please remember to type your essays and have your student ID (no name) in the upper right hand corner of the essay page(s). Application deadline is February 20th at 3:00PM!
