Stella was so happy leaving Roswell today knowing the week was done. 5days in a row. Done! Next will be her Bone Marrow Biopsy when her counts recover because they are crashing out of the sky and falling like lead weights. Stella had a 10 hour day Monday and most other days have not been as long but we had 9 hours total between her Neurologist appt and chemo and receiving red blood cells. Next week we expect to go I. For blood and platelets and then we wait for count recovery to see if she still has a positive Bone Marrow Biopsy or not with that pesky MRD (Minimal Residual Disease) - I so then back to NYC for engineered TCells then transplant if MRD is negative then to transplant we go... Timing wise - we will be home hopefully barring any infection/fevers for IV antibiotics. With counts crashing and a growing number of mouth sores shes expected to get a fever sometime soon... And if so then a minimum 48 hour hospital admit for those IV antibiotics because her ANC went from over 1300 today to just above 900. By Sunday she will surly be under the 500 mark meaning shes neutropenic and needs more care and caution from germs. I know we will be in WNY for Thanksgiving so if she has a positive MRD we could very well be in NYC for the Christmas holidays and not with extended family. If no MRD and straight to transplant then it depends on a donor schedule. Wednesday this week SOMEWHERE in the world, Stellas 10 out of 10 match was getting further typing/testing done! SOMEWHERE in the world, someone we dont know was coming forward out of pure kindness and giving their time with the only reward being the knowledge that THEY could be SAVING the LIFE of my child! How amazing is that? Truly the most pure gift being that of a stranger for no rewards! I can not be added to the registry for health reasons and Im saddened by that but telling Stellas story might encourage someone else to visit BeTheMatch.org and sign up for a kit to be mailed to you... Maybe one day, Stellas brother, Nigel can be the hero to someone else knowing what it meant for his sister! Yesterday Stellas Blood was a direct donation to her from the Blood Center at Roswell Park Cancer Institute and although I dont know who... I know it is someone who cares very much for my child - and that gift is not taken lightly! Thank you!!!! First photo is from yesterday and other is from way home today.
