Stennis Families and Friends, As we rapidly approach the end of our 16-month long shipyard period, I want to you let you know how proud I am of your Sailors. They have made tremendous strides to get our ship ready for sea as we transition from maintenance to operations. We successfully completed Crew Certification on October 30th, which allowed us to roll into Fast Cruise with a full head of steam, and that could not have happened without your Sailors. For the next few days we will conduct Fast Cruise and practice for our upcoming Sea Trials where we will test the great work that was accomplished with our Puget Sound Naval Shipyard teammates. This is an exciting time because we get to conduct numerous drills and evolutions ranging from the bridge and flight deck to our engineering and supply spaces. Close to 3,000 of your Sailors are living and working together like we will during normal operational conditions at sea. This crew has worked hard to get Stennis ready and the results are clear. They are the best crew in the Navy. All the best, CAPT Mike Wettlaufer USS JOHN C STENNIS (CVN 74)
