Step 10. CONTINUE TO TAKE PERSONAL INVENTORY and promptly admit when we are wrong. Congratulations on making it thus far in Recovery! Change doesn’t happen overnight and it doesn’t come easily, it takes an enormous amount of work. When I ponder on this Step, I look back on my life realizing just how far I’ve come (thanking God, my Higher Power for helping me), so I can begin to set new personal goals and dreams. There is something we can learn from everyone. I think one of the biggest mistakes we can make as human beings is missing our true calling in life. Whether through one’s own pride, fear, guilt or other insecurities, we may be afraid of exposing ourselves in the world, so we try to blend. The problem with ‘blending’ is, we become mediocre/complacent and even insensitive to the people and world around us, completely opposite of what God desires. He desperately wants to use our deepest darkest secrets, pain, weaknesses and insecurities. Why? Because, when we learn to forgive/love ourselves and fearlessly take accountability for our own imperfections and mistakes, we have more patience, love and compassion to give. This is the beginning of spiritual maturity! You no longer have to hide, because darkness is always driven out by light. If we continue to stay lukewarm and neutral in a corrupt society/world and blend, we are just as guilty as our oppressors. Take back your power by following your passion, stand up for what you believe in, and inspire others to do the same…
