Steph and I went up to see Steve this morning and were disheartened. Couldnt get much if any response from him. What a difference a few hours make,we went back up at 6 and he not only tracked our movements into the room, he also nodded his head a few times. He had cut down on that, probably because his neck & back hurt from the surgery. His pcs said last night when she was brushing his teeth, he spit into the cup for her, she got his nurse and he did it 3 more times which officially goes in his chart as improvement. On the down side he has a UTI and is feverish. His lungs were getting congested from laying on his back so long but now that his back is fused, he can sit up slightly. The crud in his lungs was starting to break up & he has started really coughing and theyre suctioning a bunch of that junk out, which is good. He looked like he was trying soooo hard to try to talk to us. Hoping the progress continues.
