Stephen Hawking (pretty smart guy) said: Evolution has ensured that our brains just arent equipped to visualise 11 dimensions directly. However, from a purely mathematical point of view its just as easy to think in 11 dimensions, as it is to think in three or four. One of our biggest beliefs (and strengths), is in the power of visualisation. Not in the shallow meaning of the term (as in visual design used as wrapping something, or some service), but as an important tool to understand complexity quickly, as a driver in an efficient process from an early idea to a refined concept, as a way to make rapid prototypes that we and our partners & clients can relate to, discuss and agree on direction and next steps. For us, design and visualisation is int.egrated in the way we work with all business development projects, from start to delivery. In a business world that now more and more is starting to understand the formidable potential in Big Data, but rarely knows how to approach it in a way that will create tangible, relevant and/or valuable results, visualisation will be absolute key. As Gary King (professor at Weatherhead University) says in this excellent article from Harward Business Review, There is a big data revolution, but it is not the quantity of data that is revolutionary. The big data revolution is that now we can do something with the data.” To do something with the data, you have to understand them, how they connect and relate to multiple dimensions (but maybe not 11) and directions that are relevant for your business or challenge, quality visusalisation and increasingly powerful algorithms will be very important pieces of that puzzle. We find it pretty Int.triguing. Enjoy the article in HBR!
