Stephen was speaking at Armstrong State University and right before the program started I went to the ladies room to check my hair and face. (Stephen always manages to say, And theirs my wife) While I was in the ladies room I met a young lady who was there to receive an award. I told her that was great and Im sure your parents are proud of you. She said she never met her father and her mom only dresses like shes going to club and is desperate so she has never invited her to any of her award ceremonies. She asked me how can I get her to understand I don’t want my professors or anyone else meeting her the way she dresses. Then she said, Why cant she be regular like you? The attached picture is from that evening. I gave her a few subtle suggestions that I hope helped to include talking to her mom about her feelings and going shopping with her mom and show her other options and how great she can look. I ran into the young one day and she said when she showed her mom all the certificates she has received that her mother knew nothing about, mom made a change. Regular?
