Team Will: Stephen Tindal – “Youth Spikeball Ministries?” Posted On 16 May, 2014 As day two in Munich is coming to a close, it’s incredible to think of all the people and places our team has encountered. We’ve barely traveled an hour from our hostel over the past two days & have already seen amazing things. We’ve also discovered what draws most locals to us & sparks conversation: spikeball. Yeah, I know, it sounds weird. But within 30 minutes of setting up, we had 2 local guys in the park jumping in on a game with us. Robert & Florin were pretty different from the five of us. Decked out in black leather vests, dyed hair, & piercings, most people probably wondered how in the world we had met; but once we started talking, it was just as normal as having a conversation with one of my teammates. (Mainly because they actually spoke a little English. The language barrier is a challenge over here) By the end of the afternoon, we had played spikeball & hung out with Robert and 5-6 of his friends for a solid 45min – 1hr. We even got to watch them play a game of their own which was pretty entertaining. All in all, it felt good to be able to connect with strangers over the past two days. There’s a sense of mutual curiosity that fills the conversations when two cultures collide in a confusing, unorganized, beautiful mess. We’ve had the privilege of meeting some awesome people over the past two days. If you would like to join our team in praying for them, we would really appreciate it. Dan is in a modern rock band called “Defrage” & will be going on tour in Iceland this year. Marco plays electric guitar & sings in an indie rock band out of Munich called “Cassettes”.
