Stephenville to host NFR Welcome Home Celebration for Cowboy Capital athletes - by July Danley, President/CEO, Stephenville Chamber of Commerce The Stephenville Chamber of Commerce and Cowboy Capital of the World Pro Rodeo Association invite the community to join us in congratulating our local cowboys and cowgirls as they return home from competing in the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas! The official NFR Welcome Home Celebration will be held Thursday, December 18th, 6:30 pm at the Cowboy Church of Erath County on Highway 67. The reception will provide community members the opportunity to meet the NFR contestants and their families and celebrate their achievements. The 24 local NFR qualifiers combined to win $1,265,856.13 in just 10 days at what is considered to be the Super Bowl of the sport of rodeo! 2014 World Championship Gold Buckles will be coming back to Stephenville with team ropers Clay Tryan and Jade Corkill, who set a new PRCA Team Roping season earnings record winning over $220,000 each this year. We look forward to honoring these professional rodeo athletes and recognizing the important role they play in the Stephenville area being known as the Cowboy Capital of the World. Honorees will include: Bareback Riders Bobby Mote and Richie Champion; Team Ropers Luke Brown, Shay Carroll, Jim Ross Cooper, Jade Corkill, Charly Crawford, Kaleb Driggers, Paul Eaves, Travis Graves, Dakota Kirchenschlager, Jake Long, Turtle Powell, Patrick Smith, Clay Tryan and Kollin VonAhn; Saddle Bronc Riders Jacobs Crawley and Cort Scheer, Tie-Down Ropers Cody Ohl, Reese Reimer, Ryan Watkins and Marty Yates; and Barrel Racers Britany Diaz, Samantha Lyne and Carlee Pierce. Guests will enjoy light refreshments and music by cowboy singer/songwriter Dan Roberts as they meet and visit with the NFR contestants. The program will include an interview with World Champions Clay Tryan and Jade Corkill and an official presentation by Mayor Kenny Weldon followed by introductions of each of the NFR qualifiers and their families.
