Stepping in- the posturing and flamethrowing while standing on the graves of these public servants has gone on long enough. The request that the protests cease or hold off until these officers are laid to rest is exactly why the movement states #BLACKLIVESMATTER. Nowhere in the demands was there a call for cops to be ambushed. No one was calling for murder as a resolution. To ask us to delay or postpone the protests is to diminish our cause. This movement started as a response to the repeated failure of the justice system to protect or provide relief to the many black people that have suffered from excessive force at the hands of law enforcement. To ask the movement to suspend its activities relegates us to a second class status.The request implies that Our demand for justice is not a priority and can be rescheduled to a more convenient time. All lives do matter but this horrific tragedy is an isolated occurrence. The grieving families should be allowed to mourn how they see fit without the rhetoric, vitriol & grandstanding. But as long as political convenience is sought at the expense of a movement a long time in coming, we must repeat #BLACKLIVESMATTER until all of us are equally protected under the law.
