Steve Bunche tagged me to list 10 books that have stayed with me in some way and tag ten people to do the same. Im not going to tag ten people, though, because youre not the boss of me!!! Rules: Dont take more than a few minutes and do not think too hard. They dont have to be the right books or great works of literature, just ones that have affected you in some way. And I hereby tag: Jennifer Keen, Meredith Smith, Julia Healy, Bruce Cole, Kevin Kobasic, Ed Reynolds and Kirsten Westfall. My list (kinda generic, but here goes): A Wrinkle in Time (Madeleine LEngle) - Right up my alley when I read it at about 10 years old; Fantasy paired with actual math and theoretical physics -- whats not to love? The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings trilogy - Need I say more? Good Omens (Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett) - Best Apocalypse near-miss ever written, and my first introduction to Terry Pratchett. The Eight (Katherine Neville) - A fantastic adventure story about a female chess master on a world-wide treasure hunt for eight priceless chess pieces that hide a secret. The story goes back and forth between present day and hundreds of years ago, when the pieces were originally split up and hidden. So detailed that its hard to describe, but I highly recommend this book. Anyone who likes adventures, treasure hunts with competing bad guys, chess, mysteries, European history and/or a dash of supernatural shit will love it. Jane Eyre (Charlotte Bronté) - My rare nod to the girly genre. I just love the story. Conversely, Wuthering Heights has stuck with me forever because it annoyed me so much. Pet Sematary (Stephen King) - The one and only book or movie in the horror genre that actually scared the bejeezus out of me.
