Instead what is needed is an amendment that would 1) prohibit all candidates and officeholders from receiving any material or financial support from any corporation or financial institution; 2) prohibit all candidates and officeholders from any employment with, for, or on behalf of any corporation or financial institution for at least 5 years after leaving office; and 3) link Congressional and Executive pay and benefits to average standard of living, so that they would automatically earn a raise with improvement or pay cut with decline in standard of living.
