Steve Jobs, you had a sick sense of humour. You developed what - TopicsExpress

Steve Jobs, you had a sick sense of humour. You developed what was claimed to be the worlds best computer system for musicians and film producers. And then you died, and left your company in the hands of these clowns who have abandoned us. Let me elaborate. Because of my lifestyle, it is imperative that I travel light, and A laptop computer is my tool of choice. I am a videographer, who spends months at a time on the road, in a caravan, and at times in a camping in a tent I use cameras which use MiniDV media. I have lost digital media and with MiniDV, I have physical backup. I need to download my video via Firewire. I then occasionally need to burn a test copy of my video to a DVD. Last week I was camped at a friends place in an area that had no wireless access., I plugged his ethernet cable into my computer and all was good. My Macbook Pro has a firewire port, a DVD drive, and an Ethernet input, and is the perfect tool for the job. Then I dropped my computer and the logic card is broken. Your parts are too expensive to make it economical to repair. And so I started looking for a replacement, and I went into the Apple Store to find the perfect replacement ........... YOU NO LONGER HAVE ONE. Macbook Pro has NO Firewire, NO DVD Drive, and NO Ethernet Port. Sure, I can add an external drive - But I want portability. I can buy a Thunderbolt to Firewire Cable, but searches on the net show that theses are not all that reliable ....... and because there are no longer PCMIA expansion ports on laptops, that is no longer an option. Expandability can be built into desktops - why has it been taken out of Laptops? You have successfully dumbed down the computer market, and attracted the geeks and the gullible with your clever marketing, and you have done amazing things for your shareholders, but you have abandoned the people who put you there to start with .... the professional user who has invested big dollars in his video gathering equipment, and his collection of Firewire Drives and other hardware. Yes, technology has moved on, but technology is expensive. You could have been a leader, and supported existing technology as well. I hasten to add, you are not alone .... all manufacturers have trodden the same path. But Apple, I expected better from your company. I have a feeling that you may have lost me as a customer.
