Steve Mullaley, from Canada, has one of the most impressive resumes in the game of fastball. He has been named to five All World teams, five All American teams and has seven championship rings (four ISC and three ASA). He was also the 2013 ASA Most Valuable Player. This does not even include the numerous Canadien all stars and multiple medals in Pan Am and ISF competitions. Mullaley was voted as the third best 1B/DH in the world according to an April poll of over 250 people and is considered by many as the one of the top 3-4 players in the game. There hasn’t been much that Steve hasn’t accomplished in the game of fastball and he shared with us that a gold medal for Canada at the ISF is the one thing he wants more than anything in this weeks World Fastpitch Media player spotlight. FWM: Who are you playing with in 2015? SM: Team for 2015 North American Season - Hill United Chiefs FWM: How did you get started in the game of fastball? SM: I started playing Fastpitch from watching my Dad play and it was the number 1 activity of choice during summer break as a kid in my small hometown of Freshwater, Newfoundland. All my friends played and I loved everything about the game FWM: Who do you consider to be the three best players in the world right now? SM: The 3 best players in the game today is tough to nail down but I have to mention Adam Folkard, Nick Shailes. Jeff Ellsworth and Brad Ezekiel FWM: What pitcher gives you the most trouble? SM: I love the battles I have had with Juan Potolicchio over the years he is a very tough pitcher...hitters that I play against a lot and hate seeing come to the plate include Blair Ezekiel and Brandon Horn FWM: Who have been your favorite players to play with and why? SM: Favorite teammates is an impossible question for me to answer, I consider myself extremely lucky to have had the chance to play with some of the sports great players, leaders and teammates in my career - absolutely impossible to narrow down to 1-2 - but anyone who get ls a chance to play with Jason Hill should jump at that chance FWM: Do you have any other talents that not many people know about? SM: I enjoy playing hockey year round , and playing guitar - people may not know that FWM: Is there a player that you have yet to play with that you like to before you reitre? SM: 2 players I havent played with yet that I would like to - Zenon Winters & Donnie Hale FWM: What are your 2015 fastball goals? SM: a) earn a spot to represent Team Canada at 2015 ISF and Pan Am Games B) win gold at those 2 events with Team Canada C) successfully defend ISC and ASA major championships with Hill United Chiefs FWM: You have been part of numerous world and national championship teams. Is there one personal and team goal that you have yet to accomplish that you hope to someday achieve? SM: There is one and one alone...ISF World Championship with Team Canada.
