Steve Prefontaine was a bad-ass distance runner who competed in the Olympics in the 1972 after running track for The University Of Oregon. He set many records that he still holds to this day. Hes one of my favorite all-time people. He fought the Amateur Athletic Union over the rights of amateur athletes to receive financial recoupment for their meets...Hmm, sounds like ANN material to me...He died in a car accident after returning home from a party in 1975 at the age of 24; just 4 months before I was born...For those of you who believe in reincarnation...Not that I can run nearly as well as this guy.
