Steve said. Hi mate, just putting it out there because I would like some answers personally, Im from Adelaide and almost a month ago we had a truck have an accident on the freeway down track into Adelaide at the bottom of the hill at the major intersection of cross Rd glen osmond Rd and portrush Rd. 2 people died from the cause of that accident. Yesterday police seen a semi coming down with smoke bellowing out from the tyres with a piece of mining equipment on the back that looked to weigh 25 or 30t. Police managed to safely get the truck down the freeway like that with the traffic lights at the major intersection held green to allow the truck through with police escort until it stopped safely. My question I have though is Im a truck driver and Im only 21. I know and have known about the arrester beds for trucka with failing brakes since I was about 15. Why dont these truck drivers use the arrester beds? They were put there for trucks and no trucks ever use them they seem to think they can stop by the time they get to the bottom where there is usually a red light and mass traffic built up and then they cause an accident and people die. I think that people driving trucks who wouldnt use them shouldnt be driving trucks. If I was in a truck and my brakes failed I wouldnt hesitate in the slightest to use it. Thanks
