Steve signing in at 7:11 AM for a quick update. There is the threat for isolated severe thunderstorms today with instability, wind shear and some dry air aloft. Damaging wind gusts and large hail are possible. The first serious severe thunderstorm threat for our area in quite a while is shaping up for next Tuesday. Not only should we have robust wind shear and turning of the atmosphere with height, we may also have a triple point configuration setting up with a retreating cool air wedge and approaching cold front. This means that tornados are also possible in addition to damaging winds. Not all indicators are coming together yet, there may be limited instability and considerable moisture to temper a more widespread event but signs are becoming more favorable for some type of severe storm, including tornado, threat during the day Tuesday. In addition, with the amount of moisture expected in the atmosphere, a flash flood threat may exist also. Stay alert and check for periodic updates throughout the weekend. My next morning update will be Tuesday morning.
